Guest Travel Agreement

Guiding care, and confidence — the foundation of every Epicurean Voyage

Welcome

Welcome to Epicurean Voyages. We are honored to craft your journey and look forward to sharing an experience of culture, cuisine, and discovery with you. These Terms and Conditions (the "Guest Travel Agreement") form the legal contract between you and Epicurean Voyages LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By confirming a booking, you ("you" or "your") agree to these terms on. behalf of yourself and all individuals traveling under your reservation.

Accuracy of Itineraries & Services

We honor our promises yet travel, by nature, carries a rhythm of change.

Each itinerary is thoughtfully composed to reflect the essence of your journey. While we strive to maintain every detail as presented, circumstances beyond our control-weather, partner availability, or local requirements may at times require adjustment. In such moments, we substitute experiences of equal or greater quality and inform you promptly. Your comfort, confidence, and enjoyment remain our highest priorities.

Acceptance of Risk

Your journey may include optional experiences such as hiking, horseback riding, boating, or visits to remote areas. By choosing to participate, you acknowledge and accept these inherent risks. We collaborate only with trusted partners and guides who uphold recognized safety standards. Participation is always voluntary; if something feels unsuitable, you are under no obligation to take part.

Health Advisory: Travelers are responsible for meeting all current entry, vaccination, or health requirements in effect at the time of travel. Epicurean Voyages LLC is not liable for costs or disruptions arising from changing health regulations.

Accordingly, we cannot accept responsibility for any acts, omissions, delays, losses, injuries, damages, or service disruptions caused by these third parties. Practical Information

The Art of Travel, Prepared

This guide is your quiet companion — a reflection of the artistry, intention, and grace that define every Epicurean Voyage.

Each journey is crafted with care and precision, from curated experiences to effortless logistics. Within these pages, you’ll find thoughtful details to help you travel with confidence, ease, and quiet anticipation — ensuring your journey unfolds as beautifully as it begins.

Before You Travel

Preparation as ritual — the calm before discovery.

What travel documents do I need?

A valid passport is required for entry into Spain and must remain valid for at least six months beyond your return date.

Most travelers from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union may enter Spain visa‑free for stays of up to 90 days within 180 days.

If a visa or travel authorization — such as ETIAS (launching soon) — is required, it is each traveler’s responsibility to secure it before departure.

Epicurean Voyages can provide general guidance but cannot assume responsibility for incomplete, expired, or invalid documentation.

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that includes medical coverage, trip interruption, and luggage protection. For additional details on coverage recommendations, please see the Guest Travel Agreement.

When should I book my flights?

Reserve your international flights at least 90 days in advance and share your itinerary once it's confirmed so that we can coordinate every detail with ease.

Should you wish to arrive early or extend your stay, our team can assist with pre- or post-journey arrangements and additional nights upon request — ensuring a seamless continuation of your time in Spain.

Which airports should I fly into?

Spain is exceptionally well-connected by air. Madrid (MAD) and Barcelona (BCN) serve as the principal international gateways. At the same time, regional airports such as Málaga (AGP) in Andalusia, Bilbao (BIO) in the Basque Country, and Palma de Mallorca (PMI) in the Balearic Islands provide effortless access to other regions.

Regional airports may also be arranged for charter or connecting flights upon request. Private transfers and Spain’s renowned high-speed rail network, Renfe, ensure smooth connections throughout your journey.

What is the currency in Spain?

Spain uses the Euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, though smaller markets, family-run restaurants, and rural establishments may prefer cash. ATMs are available in all major towns and cities.

Foreign cards are easily used at most ATMs and shops, though you may wish to notify your bank before traveling. Gratuities are always appreciated but never obligatory — a reflection of Spain’s gracious hospitality rather than an expectation.

What time zone does Spain observe?

Spain operates on Central European Time (CET) and observes Daylight Saving Time (CEST) from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October.

CET: UTC + 1
CEST: UTC + 2 (late March – late October)

Expect bright Mediterranean light year-round — mornings crisp, afternoons generous with sun.

When is the best time to visit?

Spain is a year-round destination — each season unfolding with its own light, rhythm, and charm.

Spring (March–May)
Mild and fragrant, ideal for cultural touring, garden strolls, and vineyard walks.

Summer (June–August)
Warm to hot, especially in Andalusia — best for northern Spain, mountain retreats, and coastal escapes.

Autumn (September–November)
Golden landscapes, gentle temperatures, and lively festivals bring a graceful calm after summer.

Winter (December–February)
Cool in the north, mild and sunlit in the south and islands — perfect for festive markets, skiing in the Sierra Nevada, or warm retreats in the Canary Islands.

Best Destinations by Season

Spring: Andalusia, Madrid, Córdoba, Seville, Ronda, La Rioja
Summer: San Sebastián, Bilbao, Picos de Europa, Galicia, Balearic Islands
Autumn: Andalusia, Ribera del Duero, Valencia, Basque Country
Winter: Granada, Málaga, Canary Islands, Madrid (holiday season)

For the most rewarding experience, Andalusia glows in spring and autumn, the north flourishes in summer, and the Canary Islands welcome travelers year‑round. Andalusia enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine each year, while Galicia and the Basque Country remain lush and temperate — a refreshing contrast within Spain’s diverse tapestry.

When does Spain celebrate?

Spain’s calendar is alive with celebration — a reflection of deep traditions, regional pride, and a joyful sense of community. From national holidays to local fiestas, each occasion embodies the country’s spirit of connection and joy.

National Holidays

January 1: New Year’s Day
January 6: Epiphany (Three Kings’ Day)
Easter Week: March / April (varies annually)
May 1: Labor Day
August 15: Assumption of Mary
October 12: National Day of Spain
November 1: All Saints’ Day
December 6: Constitution Day
December 25: Christmas Day

Iconic Festivals

Seville’s Feria de Abril, Valencia’s Las Fallas, Pamplona’s San Fermín, Barcelona’s La Mercè, and La Tomatina in Buñol — alongside Carnival celebrations that fill cities and islands with color and music.

Regional Highlights

Andalusia celebrates the solemn artistry of Semana Santa processions and the joyful rhythm of its spring fairs. Galicia honors its Celtic roots with the Festas do Apóstolo in Santiago de Compostela. La Rioja comes alive with the Batalla del Vino wine fight, while the Canary Islands dazzle with Carnival parades that rival Rio’s vibrancy. In Catalonia, the human towers of Castellers rise skyward — symbols of balance, strength, and unity.

Throughout the year, every province celebrates its own saints, harvests, and traditions — a living mosaic of devotion and joy that makes Spain’s cultural calendar an endless invitation to return.

What language is spoken?

Spanish (Castellano) is the national language, while Catalan, Basque, and Galician are also spoken across their respective regions — each reflecting Spain’s rich cultural identity.

English is widely understood in hotels, restaurants, and major cities, though less so in small towns or rural areas. A few Spanish phrases — even simple greetings — are always appreciated and are often met with a smile and genuine warmth.

Are children welcome?

Our journeys are designed primarily for adult travelers. However, children aged 12 and above are welcome on select itineraries.

For families, Private Commissions may be tailored to include experiences thoughtfully curated for younger guests.

What practical comforts should I expect?

Connectivity and comfort are effortless throughout Spain. Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels and cafés; for seamless service, consider activating an international data plan or arranging a local eSIM before you travel.

Electrical outlets use Type C and Type F plugs (230 V, 50 Hz). Travelers from North America will need an adapter and, for select devices, a voltage converter — though most modern electronics are dual-voltage and compatible with an adapter alone.

During Your Journey

Ease, rhythm, and presence — experiencing Spain with purpose and grace.

How can I move with Spain’s rhythm — gracefully and unhurried?

Flow with the day. Spain moves at a measured pace — one of savoring rather than rushing. Meals linger, afternoons slow, and moments in between are meant to be enjoyed.

Embrace local timing. Lunch unfolds mid-afternoon, often around 2:00 p.m. (14:00), and dinner rarely begins before 8:00 p.m. (20:00). Sundays are devoted to rest, family, and the quiet art of doing little. In smaller towns, siesta hours 2:00–5:00 p.m. (14:00–17:00) remain cherished — an invitation to pause.

Travel with grace. Whether walking through markets, tasting wines, or meeting artisans, move with calm curiosity. Conversation and connection take precedence over the clock — time in Spain flows gently, and presence is valued more than haste.

Notice the artistry in everyday life. From morning espresso rituals to evening paseos, Spain’s rhythm moves with elegance and quiet joy. We invite you to travel as locals live — patiently, with presence, and with delight in every detail.

And the art of sobremesa — lingering at the table in good company — endures as one of Spain’s most beautiful rituals of connection and joy.

Cultural Etiquette

Politeness in Spain is often expressed through warmth — eye contact, humor, and sincere greetings, often a handshake or dos besos (two kisses). Punctuality is appreciated, but flexibility is a virtue.

Language flows, too. Spanish (Castellano) is spoken nationwide, with regional languages — Catalan, Basque (Euskara), and Galician — enriching each community’s voice. English is understood in most hospitality settings, yet learning a few words — a greeting (“hola”) and a thank you (“gracias”) — is always warmly received.

Tipping in Spain is discretionary yet always appreciated — a gesture of gratitude rather than obligation.
Restaurants: 5–10% for exceptional service.
Hotels: €1–2 per bag for porters; €5–10 for housekeeping (per stay).
Drivers & Guides: Offered at the guest’s discretion upon completion of service.

How will we travel within Spain?

Spain offers effortless connectivity through its world-class rail network, Renfe, which operates AVE high-speed trains linking Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Córdoba, and beyond with comfort and precision.

Regional trains, private transfers, and hosted vehicles provide seamless access to smaller towns, wine regions, and countryside estates. For more remote areas, a private car hire may be recommended to ensure flexibility and ease of travel.

Luggage assistance is arranged throughout to ensure a seamless journey.

How do payments work?

Spain’s official currency is the Euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in cities, hotels, and restaurants, though smaller boutiques and family-run establishments may not accept American Express.

Carrying a small amount of cash is recommended for minor purchases, gratuities, or visits to rural areas — ATMs (cajeros automáticos) are readily available throughout the country. Contactless payment (pago sin contacto) is accepted almost everywhere, and digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay are commonly used.

How can I stay connected while in Spain?

Wi-Fi is available in hotels, cafés, and public spaces. Wi‑Fi is widely available in hotels, cafés, and public spaces. For extended stays, local SIM cards and eSIMs offer reliable nationwide coverage, and international roaming works well with most providers.

Spain’s rhythm invites both connection and pause — staying in touch while savoring the moments that unfold offline.

What should I know about health and safety?

Spain offers an excellent standard of healthcare, and no special vaccinations are required for entry. We recommend bringing personal medications in their original packaging and carrying prescriptions in your hand luggage.

Pharmacies (farmacias) are widely available and easily recognized by their green cross signage. If you have medical conditions, allergies, or dietary requirements, please inform Epicurean Voyages in advance so we may coordinate any special arrangements with our trusted partners.

Spain is among Europe’s safest destinations. Standard precautions apply — keep valuables secure, remain mindful in crowded areas, and use hotel safes when available. Your local hosts and guides will always provide contextual guidance and support throughout your journey.

Water & Hydration. Tap water in Spain is generally safe to drink, though many prefer bottled or filtered water for taste. Stay comfortably hydrated during warmer months and outdoor excursions.

Comprehensive travel insurance with medical coverage is strongly advised. For urgent assistance, dial 112 from any phone within Spain — the national emergency number.

Additional Guidance

What should I pack?

Think elegant ease over excess. Smart-casual attire suits most occasions, with comfort and refinement as your guiding notes.

Pack with intention — what you bring should serve both comfort and beauty. Spain’s rhythm invites natural fabrics, layered textures, and attire that moves effortlessly from day to evening.

The Art of Packing — The Epicurean Way

Refined-Casual by day. Elevated Smart-Casual by night.

Refined‑Casual embodies the effortless sophistication at the heart of The Epicurean Way. It’s relaxed yet intentional — elegance that feels lived-in, never styled. Soft linens, cottons, and silks in sun-washed hues and tailored ease that moves with the day — perfect for vineyard walks, market visits, and long sobremesas that stretch into golden afternoons.

Smart‑Casual carries the same spirit, with a touch more polish for evenings and private salons. Think structured silhouettes, refined fabrics, and deeper tones — attire that feels composed yet unforced. A silk blouse with tailored trousers; a lightweight blazer over linen; shoes that balance comfort with grace.

Practical Notes

  • Comfortable walking shoes for cobblestones and countryside paths.
  • Light layers for shifting temperatures, especially in spring and autumn
  • A scarf or lightweight jacket for cool evenings and air-conditioned interiors
  • Sun protection — hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
  • A small day bag for excursions
  • Refined-casual attire for wine tastings and rural estates
  • Smart-casual attire for Michelin-starred dining or special evenings

Checked luggage restrictions vary by airline; a soft‑shell suitcase travels gracefully through boutique accommodations. We encourage mindful packing—fewer, better pieces and reusable items that reflect care for Spain’s landscapes.

What level of activity is involved?

Our journeys are designed to be enriching rather than strenuous. Most experiences include gentle walks, vineyard visits, and cultural explorations enjoyed at a relaxed pace.

Some locations may feature cobblestone streets, stairs, or uneven terrain. Please share any mobility considerations in advance so we may advise on suitability and arrange accommodations wherever possible.

Who can I contact in an emergency?

In the unlikely event of an emergency, assistance is readily available through the following contacts:

Emergency Services (Police, Medical, Fire): 112
U.S. Embassy — Madrid: +34 91 587 2200
British Embassy — Madrid: +34 91 714 6300

After Your Journey

Continuing care — ensuring every detail beyond your voyage is handled with quiet precision.

How do VAT refunds work?

Non-EU guests may claim refunds for eligible purchases of €90 or more made at participating retailers. Request a Tax-Free Form (Global Blue or DIVA) at the point of sale and present it, along with your passport, when departing Spain.

Refund validation desks are located at most international airports.

Can you help ship purchases home?

Yes — we can assist in arranging insured, climate-safe shipping for wine, ceramics, and artisanal goods through our trusted couriers. While all shipments are handled with care to ensure your treasures arrive safely, transport and delivery are managed directly by the carrier under their insurance and handling terms.

Anything to note about insurance after travel?

If you’ve purchased travel insurance, please retain all receipts and confirmations for any eligible claims. Our team can provide official documentation or letters of support upon request from your insurer, ensuring your post-travel details are handled smoothly and with care.

Every journey leaves its imprint. We invite you to share reflections, photographs, or memories — continuing the dialogue of discovery and connection.

Travel beautifully, travel prepared — the Epicurean Way.
